White Wine by Pascal Jolivet from Loire, France - regions. Grape Type: 100% Sauvignon Blanc. Vinification: Grapes come from 20 acres in 3 separate vineyards owned by Pascal Jolivet in the villages of Tracy, Les Girarmes, and St. Andelain; and additional sourcing from Les Loges. These constitute a large diversity of glacial soils, differing from village to village. Les Loges: very calcareous. Full, firm wines. Saint Andelain: clay-siliceous and siliceous. Provide fruit, bouquet. Tracy sur Loire: sandy and limestone base. Delicacy, aromatics. Vinification is very traditional slow fermentation (6-8 weeks) with natural yeasts and no malolactic. The wine is left on the lees for a minimum of 4-6 months. Bottled between May and September. Tasting Notes: Pale straw in color. Piquant, minerally, austere, and very clean nose. The palate is open, fresh, and direct, with ripe fruit flavor. Clean biting finish; very youthful; minerally flavors resurface. Food Match: sushi, shellfish, pork, fish, Asian cuisine.

White Wine by Iron Horse from Sonoma County, California. This is a unique blend of Sauvignon Blanc and 10% Viognier. The grapes come from the T-bar-T vineyard in the Alexander Valley. The perfume smells exactly like the vineyard smells in spring, when all the white flowers are in bloom. This is Iron Horse's last vintage of producing this special, proprietary white. Food pairings: A great vegetable wine - especially with anything involving tomatoes and basil or a raw zucchini salad with rice wine vinaigrette. Also delicious with Florida stone crab, grilled lobster, crab tacos, bay scallop ceviche in butter lettuce cups, broiled white fish with a tangy sauce, grilled chicken Pad Thai and grilled plums with shiso.

White Wine by Bouchaine from Carneros, California. The 2004 vintage marks our first ever national release of Bouchaine Estate Chardonnay. This wine comes from vines dating to Bouchaine's original plantings in 1981, growing on our windswept Napa Valley Carneros hillsides. It is a true expression of Chardonnay--bright, citrusy flavors graced with only the merest hint of oak. Its bright acidity, notable texture (a hallmark characteristic of Carneros Chardonnay), and relentless finish harmonize in an elegant, stylish wine. Straw gold in color, it dances in the glass like sunlight. For anyone searching beyond overly-oaked Chardonnays, this one will surely delight and satisfy. FOOD PAIRING This Chardonnay loves food as much as you do. Seafood items such as fresh fish, scallops, and shrimp will truly shine when paired with this wine. Try it also with crab cakes with a red bell pepper sauce or chicken marinated in a soy-ginger dressing, and anything with citrus flavors.

White Wine by Chalone from Central Coast, California. Grown entirely at our estate vineyard, the 2003 Chardonnay is an extremely fine and delicate wine with aromas of stone fruit and brioche. Ten months of sur lie aging in 100 percent French oak barrels gives texture and imparts complex aromas of vanilla and hazelnut. As is typical of Chalone Vineyard Chardonnay, the acidity is firm and bright and the wine possesses gobs of minerality from our unique limestone site. I like to call Chalone Vineyard Chardonnay the white wine for red wine drinkers. Its rich flavors, distinctive minerality and crisp acidity make it a versatile wine to complement rich, robust dishes such as pasta in cream sauces, roasted salmon, grilled chicken breast and pork chops.

White Wine by Iron Horse from Russian River, California. 2003 is a excellent vintage in terms of quality and flavor intensity. It is also a special anniversary vintage, marking our 25th year of making Estate Chardonnay at Iron Horse. It beautifully expresses the bright, focused, clean, sweet-tart flavors of cool, foggy Green Valley. It is beautifully balanced, imparting a delightful leesy, toasty, perfectly integrated barrel character that doesn't overwhelm the fruit. The texture is soft, smooth, silky and sensuous. The finish, long and lingering. Enjoy with corn soup, rainbow trout, sole, halibut with mushrooms and asparagus, salmon, steamed lobster, lemon roast chicken served with jasmine rice, veal chop, anything with a cream sauce, goat cheese, walnuts - in other words, as often as possible.

White Wine by Ch. Ste. Michelle from Columbia Valley, Washington. Eroica is the result of a special partnership of German and American winemakers to craft an extraordinary Riesling from Washington State grapes. This is more than a blend of two estates, Dr. Loosen from the Mosel and Chateau Ste. Michelle from the Columbia Valley: It's an intermingling of Old World and New World philosophy and technique. Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, elegant and refined from German inspiration. Named for Beethoven's Third Symphony, Eroica is truly a concert of Old World and New World Riesling. The 2006 Eroica delivers fresh mandarin orange and lime aromas and flavors with subtle mineral and slate notes. This Eroica shows the warm vintage through its slightly richer, bolder style than the previous vintage. Although slightly more fruit forward, the 2006 Eroica still achieves complexity from the diverse mix of vineyards we source from - including higher elevation vineyards on the fringes of the Columbia Valley, as well as the more traditional older vines from the Yakima Valley. - Bob Bertheau, Winemaker

White Wine by Dom. du Closel from Loire, France - regions. Savennieres La Jalousie (formerly les Coulees, or Cuvee Classique, i.e. dry) is a classic Savennieres from a stainless-steel cuvee of young and older vines from their steepest soils of pure schist. The domaine of the de Jessey family has been the source for some remarkable Savennieres, of which I have numerous twenty-some year old bottles in my own cellar. But they have never been easy wines to approach - much less cuddle up to - in their youth... -Wine Advocate

White Wine by Dom. Des Baumard from Loire, France - regions. Baumard's 2004 Coteaux Du Layon Carte D'Or offers an astonishingly low-priced opportunity to experience a great nobly sweet appellation. Winsome aromas of quince, chamomile, almond paste, and white chocolate lead to a subtly sweet, mouth-filling, yet elegant and juicy palate and a bitter-sweet, quince- and flower-filled, honeyed, subtly confectionary yet genuinely refreshing finish. This should drink well for at least 8-10 years. Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate 90 Points Lots of mineral and candied lime hold the fig and glazed pear flavors at bay. Long, stony finish. Drink now through 2009. Wine Spectator 91 Points

White Wine by Terlato Vineyards from Russian River, California. Pinot Grigio resembles Pinot Noir until veraison. The clusters when harvested are a beautiful copper color. Being a natural genetic mutation, Pinot Grigio has all the intrigue, complexity and flavors of Pinot Noir, with none of the red color. This vintage suggests that the Russian River Valley can produce Pinot Grigio every bit as glorious as its famous Pinot Noirs. The fruit comes from two vineyards in the Russian River Valley. The grapes were hand harvested and delivered to the winery in half-ton picking bins in the cooler mornings in order to maximize the grapes' integrity.

White Wine by Clos Pegase from Carneros, California. The spring of 2005 was very rainy, which slowed the usual early growth. A moderate and dry summer led to a mid-September start to harvest. The 2005 wines, of which the Sauvignon Blanc is the first to be bottled, are uniformly pure of fruit and elegant. The 2005 vintage is filled with vibrant and pure Sauvignon Blanc varietal character: gooseberry, fresh cut hay, grapefruit, kiwi and quince. White Wine by Source Napa from Napa Valley, California. A fantastic Sauvignon Blanc from Napa Valley! The 2005 vintage exhibits rich aromas of orange, lime and grapefruit marmalade, elderflower, honeycomb, jasmine and fig. It is a finely balanced wine, with dense layers of flavor and texture cut with a firm line of citrus fruit acidity. Delicious flavors of floral honey, apricot and grapefruit zing through the palate. Typical of the Gamble Vineyards wine; clean, crisp with persistent finish. The 16-acre Gamble Vineyard is located in Yountville, north of Carneros at the southern end of the Napa Valley. This superb rocky site is warm enough to develop Sauvignon Blanc's tropical fruit flavors, yet cool enough to retain its natural fruit balance and crispness. Half of Gamble Vineyard is planted to the Sauvignon Musque clone, a third generation of the original bud wood brought from the Loire Valley in the 1950s - the other half to the Preston Clone, descended from the Graves region of Bordeaux.

White Wine by Trevor Jones from Australia. It's called a Virgin Chardonnay because it is untouched by any oak influence. The only wood that had anything to do with this wine was the trunks of the vines on which the grapes grew. This wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks. The result is a fresh, elegant wine, with great depth of rich ripe fruit, redolent of stonefruit, peaches and lychees. There is an underlying richness provided by the time spent on lees, combined with subtle complexity of the malolactic ferment component. The finish is soft yet crisp, with a hint of fruit sweetness balanced with an approachable acid level to leave a long, savory, flavorsome finish.
